Originally launched in 2007, MozyPro pricing was updated in 2012 for businesses to back up any number of computers for one price. MozyPro was the business version of the Mozy backup service. In February 2011 they closed the unlimited service and began charging according to how much space was used. MozyHome previously offered users an unlimited amount of storage space. In January 2012 Mozy opened the public beta of its cloud storage / synchronization feature called Mozy Stash, for free. MozyHome was the consumer version of the Mozy backup service, bought on a monthly subscription or on various other plans.
Mozy produced three products: MozyHome, MozyPro, and MozyEnterprise. Carbonite announced plans to shut the service down as an independent entity in 2019, shifting Mozy's clients to its own online backup program. On March 19, 2018, Dell sold Mozy to Carbonite in a $145.8 million cash deal. acquired EMC Corporation to form Dell Technologies, restructuring the original company as a subsidiary of Dell Technologies. Mozy was headquartered in Seattle, Washington, though the majority of its employees were in its Pleasant Grove, Utah offices. In October 2007, EMC acquired Berkeley Data Systems, along with the Mozy product line for $76 million. This is in addition to VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle, SAP, IBM DB2 and Sybase, which were given Data Domain integration in Avamar previously.

The Avamar product has undergone a full upgrade to version 7 and now supports backup to Data Domain of NAS/NDMP workloads. That makes it most suited to use in datacentres, where bandwidth to the disk target is not an issue.ĮMC has also added Data Domain backup integration with SAP’s HANA Studio and Oracle Exadata.
The key upgrades over the products they replace (the DD640, DD670, DD860 and DD890) are a CPU upgrade to Intel Sandy Bridge for a claimed 4x faster processing/throughput and higher capacity drives of 3TB in place of 2TB for a 10x capacity boost over the previous products.ĭata Domain is EMC’s hardware data deduplication backup hardware family, acquired in 2009, which serves as a backup target at which data volume is reduced inline as it is ingested. The new Data Domain boxes – launched at an event in New York this week – are the DD2500, DD4200, DD4500 and DD7200, all of which fit into the midrange between the entry level DD160 and high end DD9200.
